What file formats are supported by the map viewer?
The map viewer supports GeoJSON (.json / .geojson), ESRI Shapefile (as a .zip containing .shp, .dbf, and .prj files), and KML files. GPX route files exported from Garmin, Strava, or Komoot devices can also be loaded. Make sure your Shapefile ZIP includes at least the .shp and .dbf components.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your geospatial data is never sent to any server, which means you can safely view sensitive or proprietary map data without any privacy concerns.
My Shapefile is not displaying correctly. What should I check?
Ensure your ZIP archive contains at least the .shp and .dbf files in the root of the archive (not inside a sub-folder). Including a .prj file ensures the coordinate system is recognized correctly. For very large files (50 MB or more) you may encounter browser memory limits; consider simplifying the geometry or splitting the dataset before loading, or contact us.
Can I export the map?
You can use your browser's screen capture or print feature. For data export and further processing, use our GeoJSON Formatter.
